Out of the 100+ micropubs in Britain we are officially the first and currently the smallest to brew our own ale.  We have installed a 2 1/2 barrel brewery which means we can produce up to ten 9 gallon casks with each brew.

Our two fermantation vessels actually allow us to produce two brews at once.  We are also experimenting with the best hops that we can acquire from around the world so that we can keep surprising the Candles' customers.

Whilst we are the smallest brewpub in Britain, it should be noted that we are not the smallest pub in Kent or the smallest brewery.  We are however, the smallest micropub to brew it's own ale (According to our friends at CAMRA).

There are now more than 100 micropubs in the country, but the Four Candles is, so far, the only one to brew its own beer.

The equipment we use was made by Dave Porter of NBI Installations. Dave has his very own outstanding brewery in Bury, Lancs.
